Domain Connection Issues

Built 3 new machines for the company I work for. They need to be connected to our domain but I cant get them to connect.

They are pro versions of 8.1
Yes I can ping the server
"specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted"

Any help would be appreciated.

Likely DNS configuration is not correct somewhere. Can you ping the domain by name?

No I can only ping the IP

Then you have a DNS configuration issue somewhere.

You are connected to the corporate LAN when you do this, right?

Any ideas on how to fix it? Or know where I can find some possible fixes for it? I have been racking my brain over this one all day. I am not an IT professional by any means, I know more than your average guy, but to a small company the ability to build a computer apparently translates to full on IT pro I guess.

First, check the DHCP server (if not using hardcoded IP addresses) and make sure that it's handing out the correct address for the domain server. If using hardcoded IP addresses make sure that you have entered the correct DNS IP address/s. Until you get DNS working correctly you won't be able to join those machines to the domain.

Thanks I will keep fiddling around with it. I can connect to the DC server no problem via remote connection but can't seem to connect to the domain
