Hi,

We have 2 domains, domain A and domain B. domain A has all the users
accounts. What would be the best way to have all the users accounts
on both domain A & B?

Is it possible we could join PDC B to domain A, then
demote PDC B to BDC A.

Thank you very much.

To answer your question. No you cannot move domain controllers in NT4
without reinstalling. You could create a trust between the 2 domains so
people can access both domains.

With a trust between 2 domains, if domain A failed, can users
still log in to dmain B?

Thank you.

No. The trusts only allow access to resources but all the account still
remain in the original domain so if that domain controllers were to fail
then all user account are lost. What are you trying to accomplish here?
Failover on Domain A? If so you need more than one domain controller in that
domain for this. Like a PDC of course and then a BDC or two in case the PDC
were to fail. What exists in Domain B that you want to get to?

well, I was actually trying to set up a BDC for domain A, but
during the set up, it could not find the domain A to join.
So I set it up as a PDC of domain B and was hoping maybe I could
make it join doman A then demote it to BDC of domain A.

When I set up these 2 machines, they are in the same subnet.

Thank you.

Thank you for all the help.

I re-installed the box and this time it successfully joined the
domain as BDC and synchronized the users.

Good. That's what you wanted.
