I recently bought a open box asus z270 rog maximus hero ix. not only was the motherboard missing accessories it was also missing the rear armor shield that protects the audio this part is supposed to be screwed on or welded on. all I know that its not a accesorie its a part of the motherboard . because I'm always get q codes and audio error messages and some of the usb ports don't work and I cant install or uninstall drivers and the performance on this motherboard sucks. my cpu temps are threw the roof on the lower spec msi z270 a pro motherboard I had before getting this one would do 4.8 easy I cant get the cpu past 4.5 on this motherboard and I bought it from newegg. and I explained what they did and they do not want to help me

If you actually read the open box disclaimer from newegg it tells you that some if not all accessories could be missing along with the install disc.

As for the I/O shield some of my computers dont use them, lost them over the years from multiple builds or the case its self doesnt use it thermaltake p3 case. The I/O shield does some grounding but its more for dust blocking, If its physically missing the metal box around the audio ports than thats some completely different.

Missing accessories is all but given when dealing with open-box purchases. As for the I/O shield, yes. that too is an accessory. Newegg's Open Box policy clearly states that some accessories may be missing, but that the item has been tested and is functional. It's buyer beware.

A unit sold as open box has been returned for a reason.
It may have been the wrong item and simply returned in which case it can be a good buy.
But, usually, there is something wrong and it is returned.
Newegg has no capability to verify proper functioning.
You take your chances.

the motherboard came with the io shield but it was missing the guard shield that lights up in rgb and is supposed to protect the audio the motherboard I bought did not come with it and I'm always getting q-codes and I cant uninstall or reinstall drivers and my cpu temps are threw the roof and I have a corsair h110i v2 cpu cooler

I didnt look very close to see how mine was mounted to my asus board. Im guessing whoever had it before you i must have interfered with something so they tried to take it off. it probably screwed something up on the board so they just returned it. I would ether call newegg and get a replacement or just return it outright.

but was this even legal what newegg sold me ? it has no factory warranty and it was missing a part of the motherboard not a accessory. that's probably why the factory warranty was voided and newegg had to know what they sold me was not good

Missing accessories is one thing, that is what the opened box permits.
But, the motherboard should have a warranty from the factory ad be in sound running order.
Apparently yours is not.
Therefore you should contact Newegg for a return of a defective product.
They are likely to refer you to the manufacturer so you will need to deal with Asus(not noted for responsiveness)
It is not clea

Unfortunately Newegg does not warranty open box items. On the other hand, selling a damaged item certainly sounds unfair to me. Cancel the credit card transaction and let Newegg fight it out with your credit card company.

Buying refurbished or open box electronics is always a gamble. I prefer not to take the risk. Now you know why.
