"so we are being educated about parts by someone who cant even build their own computer."

That's the best thing said so far. Amen

Nice list
Thank you. I have another for you.

but you realize that people tend to complain louder than they praise. There generally aren't threads saying "Well, I installed my card and it works fine. That's all".
Well these reviews seemed to have a lot of praise:

I thought that HardOCP's experiences with their alleged GF4 screen corruption were remarkable muted all things considered. I would hardly say they're "complaining louder than they praise". Quite the reverse in fact.

I'm seriously gonna laugh till a cry...and it'll be crying for the state of sanity in this world...not from this being sooo damn funny.
Don't you think it slightly odd that a relatively large number of people are all reporting a very similar issue?

Would you say the guys at HardOCP are a bunch of newbies who ESD cards on a regular basis and have heat problems with their machines?

And you guys dare to blame nVidia and call it a GeForce 4 problem....hah!
I haven't blamed anyone at all, as far I as recall. I just find it a little strange. You seem to be very quick to defend nVidia and flippant in dismissing peoples' experiences. This doesn't seem to help your credibility.

I am indeed very quick to dismiss all the threads i've read so far...for 3 reasons.

1. half of em are from guys who practically beat thier cards.

2. a quarter of em are from guys like easycomeeasygo and i dont think that requires explaining after this thread.

3. I've installed 23 of em and know of 4 others (ALL Visiontek TI 4400 and 4600 cept for one pny GF4 MX 400) and they all work beautifully.

Only a quarter of these guys seem to have a legit complaint, and i'd bet money that since 90% of the ones i've read said they came from newegg that newegg is repacking the fugging things reselling the broken ones...there's simply no other good explaination cause like i said...i've talked to compusa and since then i've talked to best buy and they have no been recieving any boards back with those problems at all. Their tech's havn't encountered it once yet, and they've installed and tested close to 50 each of these each week for the last 3 weeks.

edit: either that or newegg treats their packages roughly and doesnt pack em well.

These kinds of threads bother me for 2 reasons

1. No link from the manufacturer
2. Links only from a forum from a select number of people

This is very similar to Kennyshin's way of debating. There has been no recall, and linking to forums, where people go for help isn't an argument in favor of this. All it says is that people are getting help at forums for their problem. Not that via boards are causing problems with GF4's etc etc. It is only a small sample, and doesn't reflect much unless you get MASSIVE amounts of posts like we did for a batch of K7S5A's, 75 gxp's, and 60 gxp's.

It might be possible that there really is a problem, but going about it this way is not usefull. There is a huge difference between a recall and some people having to get RMAs. Everyone at one point in time is going to get a bad component. We move on with our lives. I can't believe this, but you actually posted a link to someone who seated his card wrong. That's something worth linking to? I read the threads, and from the sound of it the card isn't loose, but people are installing them wrong. On one forum a guy gives a list of bad motherboards for the GF4, and on another list they have different results.

Other problems might be real. It only takes one bad batch though to cause a flux of posts on a forum, and that's inevitable to happen to every single manufacturer. RMA the product, post here, and move on. If it's really bad, you'll know. 50 people with problems though is not an issue. If it is, it might be the chipset of the motherboard, so we can't discount that either.

I happen to have the K7S5A and a PNY G4 Ti4400 and I am experiencing a crap load of problems. System keeps crashing while running 3d apps and yes I have all new drivers for everything. Happen to know what is causing this?

No, but here is an excellent forum and resource for those of us who own the K7S5A.

Actually, cretin, I'm sending both the mobo and the geforce card back to the respective manufacturers to determine which is the defective hardware component. Stay tuned cretin, you might learn something. (Though I doubt it!)

You're not the only one. I have the PNY ti4600 and I'm trying to track down a solution. I'll post here when I find one.
