Hello,

If you want to have your avi, mpg on Western Digital 2TB WD20EARS (as an usb driver), stay away from trouble. The performance is awful. There are quarand (big black squares, ghost image) on the screen.

I tried WD Advanced alignment Tool, small partitions..not much help.

Now I had just through 100$ away :-(. I should have choose Samsung Spinpoint..and stay from "greeny" harddrive, if you want to save your movie on it.

I don't know what your problem is, but I'm pretty sure it's not the drive. I've been using two WD20EARS drives with a VanTec USB 3.0 dock for over a year with zero problems. I get transfer rates as high as 100+MB/sec.
