Don't know if I want to upgrade

So I have a 900p moniter and a gtx 1050 I can run most games at 40 to 60 fps, my question is if I get a 1080p moniter will I get far less frame rate then I already have, I've been playimg the witcher 3 a bunch latley and there has been lots of stuttering, so will I be fine with upgrading to a 1080p moniter?
My specs
-don't know the moniter (bought from a friend)
-fx 8350 cpu(using stock cooler)
-Gigabyte ga 78lmt usb3 motherboard
-Zotac GTX 1050
-4gb hyperx 1600, ram

If you get constant stuttering on a 900p monitor on a gtx 1050, I would either hold off or get a better GPU. If you upgrade your resolution/monitor from stuttering, you can only get worse.

Thanks for the advice, but could the stuttering also be from having 4gb of ram.

It could definitely be that, but as far as I'm concerned, RAM is more of a multitasking thing, but if you have the money or spare parts, it may be worth a shot.
