hello guys need some suggestions, i bought a asrock H77m mobo that turned out to have a damaged lan port. I got a refund and mobos at good prices for 1155 are scarce. So should i sell my xeon 1230v2 and used the money towards a 4th gen i5 and buy a 1150 mobo. Or should i keep it. I plan on mostly gaming but i do need to run multiple virtualizations at the same time from time to time as my uni courses get harder and i learn new things and practice for my certifications.

So should i sell or keep it and find a good mobo for it?

thx

I dont think i need that kind of power and i want some of the new technologies new boards offer.

If you want to upgrade to a new socket the Xeon 1231 v3 has hyperthreading and is competitive with a i7. I would seriously look at it :) By the way a i5 is a excellent CPU and is great for gaming all around but lacks cores for visualization. Your CPU is fine as it is now but if you did want to upgrade go to something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($242.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($88.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $331.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

thx for the sugestion , im still trying to find another mobo for the cpu. If i were to upgrade i dont think i could afford to go with a xeon again. If i find a good mobo ill keep the xeon, I plan to upgrade if when zen comes out if its any good. If not to what ever intel has available.
