they both seem to have good specs, but which one is better?? What specs make them good. And is the lenovo 510p woth the 100 dollars more??

Except for the fact that:

1. That's UK prices and the OP seems to be in the US.
2. 15.6" vs 14" screens. Some people don't like 1920x1080 on 14" screens.
3. The Lenovo has two GT 750m SLI'ed together compared to a single GT 750m or GT 765m in the Alienware.

If you want to record gameplay, then you need a quad core CPU because both the game and the recorder will both be fighting for the CPU. Video encoding is CPU intensive.
