This is my first time building a PC and I am completely confused about what to do with my gpu.

I have an EVGA Geforce gtx970 and it has 2 6pin slots. However, I don't have any cable that fills those slots I can only find 1 6+2 pin cable that connects from the PSU to the GPU. Should I only connect the 6 pin? or am I missing something?

Here are the specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/q6mYJV

Thank you.

Solution
from your specs your PSU absolute came with two 6+2pin PCI power cables.

Yes you just use the 6pin and leave the +2 part unplugged. This is by design.
You need a PSU with two of those connectors but your PSU only has one. You might try using a molex to 6 pin adapter, but I wouldn't do that if it was up to me. If your PSU did not come with two videocard connectors then it's likely it does put out the power necessary to run two videocards. In short, you need a new PSU. It's a good idea to check the requirements of components before you buy them to make sure they are adequate for your needs.

editL If your PSU is an EVGA 750 it should have more than one 6 pin connector

Yeah i do have more than 1 cable than goes from the psu to the gpu but all of them are 6+2 pin. I just connect all of the 6 pin parts and I leave the 2 pin part unconnected??

So i basically connect more than 1 cable from the psu to the gpu and all the 2 pin part from the 6+2 pin connectors is left unconnected?

yes, unless your PSU is using a cable that has two 6+2pin connectors on it.

Alright! thanks. I've just done it.
