dont know whether to overclock i7-4770k

i do not know whether to overclock my 4770k from 3.5gz to 4.2gz, i have h100i extreme water cooling so that isnt a bad thing, but i dont know whether it will lower the lifespan of my cpu, even if i have good cooling?

Overclocking will always reduce the life of your CPU but aslong as you have adequate cooling the CPU will still be alive and working when its time to upgrade.

okay thank you, but do you know when it will be time to upgrade? how long would you recommend keeping my 4770k?

Its impossible to say. Running the latest games maybe 3-4years. General internet browsing. Substantially longer. You cant future-proof a computer because you don't know how software will develop in the future.
