I see no reference to any M.2 slots in the kaptop's specs, which should negate the need of worrying about NVME vs. SATA in M.2 form-factor.

Thats not my laptop mine is i7 7th gen, so what is that slot for ?

That slot is probably for a Wifi card, or perhaps an SSD cache. Similar form factor as an m.2 2280 ssd, just shorter - 2230.
