Don't know which PSU (used) to get when I upgrade my GPU

Hey guys, I'm currently sitting on a HD 4670 GPU, really old GPU. And recently I got a little bit of money and decided to buy a R7 250X or if it's not available then a 550TI, both used. I have a crap PSU "MS Industrial Pro 550W" and was told I would need a better PSU since this one only outputs 16amps in the 12v rail. So I've been looking at used PSUs and I found a couple of decent "known" brands that might be good for me, but I do not know which one will be good with the watts that they provide. I'm from Serbia so prices are a bit higher even for used items, like one Ebay I saw used 30$ cards being sold here as used for 50€+

The lowest watt one and the cheapest is the Be Quiet 300W 80+ certified, second one is Cougar 350W 80+ bronze certified and the last one is a lesser known brand but the most expensive of the 3, Ultron Real Power 450W 80+ Bronze certified. Could the 300W do the job? If yes I'll most likely get that one, or 350W if that one is the minimum.

This is what the build is gonna look I guess:
1. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FYBXqk (R7 250X)
2. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VMgvQV (If the R7 250X is no longer available, then 550ti)

If you guys could help me that would be awesome and I would be thankful!

I looked at the forum and I found nothing similar, or I missed it, if that's the case I'm sorry.

I can't seem to find any of the PSUs I'm hoping to get on the tier list, only the Be Quiet one.

The calculator says:
Load Wattage: 264 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 314 W

So I guess the one that I saw on the tier list falls off since it is 300W :(

Then the Cougar 350w Bronze certified would be your best bet. Their PSU has not been reviewed in the Tier list but Cougar is a well known brand and should be trustworthy.

Looks like I made a mistake and calculated the Wattage for the current build I have, the correct calculation for the potential new build would be:
Load Wattage: 314 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 364 W
So even the Cougar is not good?

Get yourself a seasonic s12II 520w and your set. Not to expensive and will last you until that pc breaks.

Yeah you should probably go with at least 400w then, the 350w Cougar might still be ok to use, but my own policy is not to go above 80% the amount of power usage in a PSU. You could go for that 450w one you mentioned but make sure to check reviews of it first. I checked for abit for that one and it seems to be popular for italians: https://www.ollo.it/ultron-alimentatore-realpower-450w-rp450-eco-80plus-bronze-apfc-eup/p_660246.

I can't give you a 100% surety that that PSU will be ok but in my opinion I think you can go for it.

The above comment is a great PSU and it's ok to use PSU's that have more watts than you need but will be more expensive. But it really is best not to cheap out on your PSU.

That thing is low tier junk at least suggest a good psu.

He said he couldn't find any PSU in his country that get on the tier list of good PSU. Can't really suggest the stuff that I know are budget friendly and works well If he wouldn't be able to find it in his country anyway. And as I said, i'm not giving him a complete thumbs up on that unknown brand but if you think it's a very bad idea then I wont recommend it either.

Can you give us some sites you can buy from? I might be able to find you a decent psu then.

I use this website http://www.kupujemprodajem.com/Napajanja-10-887-1-grupa... (PSU category is selected) which is like eBay here. Like
pacci524 already said, those are the ones that can fit in my budget and look like okay brands

These are the cheapest I could find that wouldn't turn your pc into a fire hazard.

Way waaaay out of my budget, I'll just get the 450W RP Ultron one, I don't think it will be that bad

Well, it is. The PSU is the most important part of your PC. If you can't afford a very basic, competent PSU, I'm guessing you can't afford to replace the CPU/GPU that these junk boxes frequently fry.

I guess it is worse then all of the other well known and respected brands, but for the money I have I think it is the best solution, miles better then using the current PSU I have, which is a 550W cheap unknown garbage one.

The ultron is in the same boat as what you have now. It probably is even worse.

This is wishful thinking; it's still cheap unknown garbage - there's no reasonable basis to think that is a solution or miles better than your current PSU. You're solving your old problem by creating a new, identical one. If you can't afford an actual safe PSU for your new GPU at this time, save up until you can before buying a new GPU. The PSUs a few posts above aren't some high-end PSUs, but PSUs at the very bottom edge of recommendable.

http://www.game-debate.com/psu/index.php?ps_id=219&psu=MS%20Industrial%20PRO-550ATX%20550W this is the one I currently have, was told it was too pathetic to run the GPUs I'm looking to buy

Sadly my situation does not allow me to save up for a future upgrade, this is the only time when I can "upgrade" a bit, in the years to come

Then I wouldn't upgrade at all. Otherwise, it's the equivalent of upgrading your car to one with broken brakes despite not having the money to repair the brakes.

Then no reason to get a new psu. It's either get a good one or don't get one situation. Just test your luck as the 250x is quite low power ( the 550 ti will be pushing your luck a lot).

Thank you all for the input. I've decided to get a 420W BeQuiet or 450W RP Ultron, depending on which one is available in a day or two. What happens happens, I want a better GPU and saving up is not an option, so I'll be hoping everything works out fine :)

Well, all we can do is wish you luck, then. Ultimately, it's your money and your PC at risk, and your responsibility.
