Got a bootmgr corrupt message, now the hard drive will not boot, screen not even visible at all ! Have tried all recovery attempts via cd/dvd etc but the disc drives are not working on boot up. I have backed everything up to an external hd, so if i get a new hard drive should this fix the problem as i do not have the time to sort all this out. Help !

Wow, the problem affected your keyboard's capslock to, creepy.

Bootmgr problem occurs when the Windows file is corrupted. You should try repair the Windows using the disc. It should fix it. If not, you might want to do clean install.

I had mentioned that installation disks don't work, i have no screen, recovery cd's don't work because the bootup sequence does'nt even get that far , the cd's stay idle in their drives - no autorun at all. What do i do now, but i did ask if getting a new hard drive would solve the problem, i don't mind spending out as i need a larger capacity one any way.

calm down sir. CAPS locking doesn't help the situation.

Can you make the motherboard settings come up during startup?

Have you set the drive boot sequence correctly for a clean installation of OS?

Let me correct the cap. It is in the forum rule to not use all cap and there will be capital punishment (post delete) for all cap post. But I know you are very frustrated, I will correct it instead. But please don't use all cap in the future.

Can you get into the BIOS and set the boot order to try booting to the DVD drive first? You have to make sure that your DVD drive is added to the boot order in the BIOS, and appears as the first thing the computer will try to boot to. If you get that setup correctly, the PC should then boot to the install disc, and you can run the repair procedure from Windows setup.
