hey, I am desperately looking for some advice on what CPU to buy, i know you guys going to say fx-62 or w/e duo..but im looking for something GOOD and Cheap i was looking at the
Althon 64 3800+ Orleans AM2, but i am not sure,
and also looking at the Asus M2N-Sli, im sure ill get that cuz so far good reviews and its ASUS had some good feedback form some asus users
and i would like some advide on GOOD Memory that does not exceeds over 200$, thats about it thanks guys.

Not sure if you know what's just around the corner, but Intel is about to release their Core 2 Duo processors in about a month. At that time, AMD is scheduled to make large price cuts in their dual core processors. Search the CPU threads here and you can find approximate Core prices but performance per dollar looks to be standard-setting. a good Core mobo looks to be reasonably expensive, as is good DDR2. If you go with AMD 939, you can find excellent deals on 2x1GB DDR for well under $200. I like OCZ DDR500.

Just something to keep in mind that most AMD fanboys fail to point out. Conroe runs great regardless of RAM, even with crappily(is this a word?) timed RAM, they deliver top notch performance. GL :)

The seems to imply that you think I'm an AMD fanboy. If so, you are in error. Conroe is in my future. Then again, so is K8L.

The truth is out - I'm a slut.

I was just teasing. I am pro Intel, pro AMD, pro Mac - as long as it's good, I'm all for it. I'd buy an Edsel computer complete with front grille if it would get the job done. Like I said, I'm a slut, or maybe just a ho.

get 939, am2 right now sucks, if u get am2 i suggest u wait until they get new procesors out that are not just 939's modified, u can get an asus a8n sli, 3800 or 3700, with some patroit 2 gb ram with a $ 61 mail in rebate

AM2 performs as good or better than 939, depending on what ram you use. We have not even seen any benchies using DDR800 because the bozos couldnt get it to work. Low latency DDR2 800 can improve up to 20% over 939. AM2 will also be upgradeable to the 65nm X2's, 939 wont.

Tanker, you still month after month refer to Conroe as if its something that you can go buy. You cant seem to get it through your head that it isnt released yet. How can you sit here and advise someone that Conroes gonna deliver top notch performance regardless of what ram you use when it hasnt even been released yet?? The only Conroe benchies released have been Intel preconfigured systems.

So to address the question my suggestion if your going the AMD road would be AM2 with DDR2-800 cas 4 or less. I also would buy a cheap single core cpu (3800+) and buy a 65nm X2 when the prices come down.

Also note that the AM2 systems used PC 8000. :? So poor RAM is not gonna work as an excuse.
