Hello,

I got a new monitor yesterday. AOC G2460PF. It says It's a 144Hz monitor but I don't see the 144Hz option in the Nvidia Control Panel nor in the display settings. I only see 60Hz. I use HDMI cable for this monitor. I have a GTX 980TI. Win10.
How can I fix this? or make it show the 144Hz option.

Solution
Possible it is trying to run in clone mode as terry suggested(would be odd as extended is the usual default). To test shut the system down and unplug that LG monitor from the gpu and turn the system back on and see what options you get in the nvidia control panel.
Go to Windows Display, and the select Change Display Settings. If you have more than one monitor, select the 144Hz monitor as your primary monitor (select apply). Then select Advanced Display Settings. Then select Display Adapter Properties, and on that screen select Monitor from the menu. This brings up the monitor frequency settings. Select 144Hz from the list and then OK or Apply.

Then to confirm, go to Nvidia control Panel. Then go to the Display menu and select Adjust Desktop Size and Position. Then select the 144Hz monitor. Then under Settings check the Refresh Rate it should be at 144Hz. If not you can select 144Hz there

I did use my display port cable i got from buying the monitor. I plugged it in. Went to display adapter
properties and still not option for 144Hz.
I do not have a DVI Dual Link cable though. I'm also using another monitor. as my 2nd.

Not if you use the Nvidia control panel. I run 2 monitors, my main monitor is 2560x1080@60Hz and my 2nd is 1920x1080@144Hz and changing resolution and refresh rates in the nvidia control panel is easy you just need to make sure to scroll down to get the PC options as the Ultra HD, HD, SD options that are at the top of the list will not give an option for anything over 60Hz.

Wow so it's not recognizing the monitor properly at all.
Have you tried installing the driver?

This might be a stupid question but how do you update the monitor drivers with those files?

But if the primary monitor is set at 60Hz (in Windows Display), and then duplicated to the second monitor. The second monitor may not be adjusted to 144Hz even if it has the capacity to do so. And Nvidia control panel will reflect both monitors at 60 Hz.

Unfortunately it's not a real easy one.
You'll have to extract the files to a new folder. Then go into device manager-> expand monitors-> right click the AOC and choose update driver software-> select browse my computer for driver software -> either type the address of the folder or click browse and go to the folder that way then click next and it should update the driver.
If you have an optical drive installing from the driver cd that shipped with it might be easier.

The monitor drivers can be updated in the Device Manager under Monitors. Just select the monitor and then select Driver from the menu, Then select Update Driver.

I did this and it finally worked! Thank you a lot! :DD

I thought I would bring up a new wrinkle. My installation of Windows 10 Pro 64 recently died. The only option to recover the system was a fresh install of the operating system. And here is the new wrinkle that is relevant to this discussion.

With the new installation of Windows 10, I received the "creator's Update" (build 1703). It essentially renders this whole discussion mute. At present, Windows display has been altered, and much of the adjustability that we discussed here is gone. The ability to adjust text size is much diminished. The ability to use bold text is gone. I have not been able yet to reset my monitor to 144Hz. I'm still working on it

I don't know at this point if it is possible to go back to the anniversary update (and keep it with the auto updates).
