Hi all. Just have a few questions- how can static electricity damage my components (just looking for a brief answer)
- would it work if I built my computer on hardwood flooring?
- what does 'grounding' yourself mean?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
static electricity can fry the circuits on the silicone. Grounding yourself means to keep yourself attached to a large chunk of metal to absorb the static electricity in your body either by directly touching the case or using an anti-static wristband. Hardwood is not a bad surface, but your case should provide grounding, I would mainly avoid carpet.
