My CPU is FX 6300 its overclocked to 4.5 ghz, if thats any use.

Same configuration here, I used to play doom around 40-50 fps and sometimes drops to 30fps.

Seems you are clear as far as GPU goes if you are ok with lowering settings a bit.

Yes. Around 40-50fps with drops to 30, according to stage and number of enemies, with my fx-6300@4.2ghz and evga ssc 960 2gb.
Finished the game, don't play anymore.
If you oc your gpu maybe you'll get better min fps.
