Doom 3 gameplay question

Now this is pretty trivial, but bear with me. Essentially I upgraded my system to play Doom 3 decently so I want everything to be right. When this occurs I can be somewhat compulsive (the last big upgrade was for Dungeon Siege).

Anyway, when I pull up the PDA and choose the Personal option, I am named simply "Player." Is there a way to change the name that I am missing? I have RTFM, maybe I missed it?

If the game were to be consistant then the name should be Marine Kelley not Player, since Doom 3 is an FPS and that's the character's name. However, since you are so anal (just kidding. LOL!) there is a way to change that wording.

In the main Doom 3 directory you'll find a file called DoomConfig.CFG. Edit this file and look for a line that reads as follows:

seta ui_name "player"

Just change "player" to whatever you wish. The quote marks (") are part of the syntax so don't forget to include them.

The change takes place the next time you play the game. It doesn't matter if you load an existing saved game or start a new game.
