DOOM 3 (I'M STUCK!!!!)

I am on Cave Level 1.
My objective is to power the lift to take me to the lower level but I can't
freaking activate it. I climbed up the ladder, killed the creature, jump
unto the platform and went into the window. I then went into the following
room, went down the lift, killed the creatures that appear when you approach
the bed and THAT's IT!
Nothing, nadda, zippo!
The door which leads back out to the lift won't OPEN!

I started the level over 3 times, killed everything, looked for trap doors,
hidden switches, collected every item I could find and I am stuck at the
same exact spot everytime!

Any ideas?

I can't remember exactly how it goes down there, but trust me, just look over a
FAQ, for that section, and it'll help.

I followed the gamefaqs FAQ to a T and still no go.
I am starting to wonder if there is a glitch in my copy of the game.

In the room that overlooks the lift -- the one you got to by climbing a
ladder and jumping across onto some planks -- has a switch that
activates the lift. If I recall correctly, it's in the part of the room
right next to the door.

How is everyone already playing Forza?
I finished Doom 3 about an hour after I unlocked the lift.
Awesome Game! I will definitely play it again but now I have to finish Ninja
Gaiden, Street V3, Fight Night 2 and than I will probably start Forza
(ratings depending).

Did you try the online co-op for Doom 3?

I think so. Especially considering what else you have to pick from in
the lineup. The only other xbox racer I truly loved was RS2. Not its RS2
and Forza.
