@@@@@@@DOOM 3 on Win98 with Radeon 9800 pro solved.
Had DOOM 3 freezing after around 10 mins play and forceing me to completly
restart...allso sometimes little white specks ...(not from overclocking)
Tryed lots of things (lots and lots and even more...)
FINALLY !!!! ATI driver Catalist 4.10 has it all ok (cross fingers ..so far)
Allso after any driver change.... in DOOM video do a Check System then
select Ultimate Quality and restart
to set it...then change to whatever Quality Setting you do want and again
restart to set..

U will know allready that to get DOOM 3 to work at all on Windows 98 it has
to be tweaked to start with..

Here's the solution: get an OS that can handle more than 512 MB and
isn't 7 years old... Jesus, are you trying to run Doomed 3 on a 486??

Don't speak your language well, but I tried several things and freezes
STILL for hard reboot. Using W2K on lowest Doom settings. Still
freeeeeeeezzzz.
What else you got?

This not about the OS version ....I seen many bunnies with same prob on
XP....

Try turning ATI control panel AGP all the way down to Zero (yes ALL the way
down to zero) like turning AGP off.. AGP is just another version of PCI
so the Video can work ok even if the sys calls it a "PCI card" and it isnt
in practice much slower.

Run DOOM 3 in a window ....it will probebly still freeze up ...but at least
u can switch away and close it without a full restart..

Set the Doom 3 Video to the same dot Resolution and bit depth as your
desktop...

Remember sometimes this Freeze type prob. can happen because of Sound Card
problems....

In order for a card like a 9800 Pro to run you have to have the 4 in 1
drivers installed on a VIA chipset motherboard and the INF Update
drivers installed with an Intel chipset. And these drivers need to be
installed before installing your video card drivers.

There's no need to turn the AGP off.
