Download Doom95 or _any_ of the dozens of source ports (jDoom/Doomsday
is excellent!) for proper Windows and DirectX support (including
DirectInput for mouses).

AFAIK, prior to Doom 3, the games did not use a mouse. The original reply
was the best advice - get hold of Doomsday - it significantly improves the
graphics apart from anything else.

I used a mouse with Doom2. I began making the right mouse button
Forward with Doom2 and DN3D. still using that :) I DID miss having
JUMP in Doom/Doom2. At least there were lots of steps and such...

Of course they did. Both Doom and Doom2. Not to mention Quake, Quake2,
DN3D, and more...

if doom2 works ok with mouse and collectors edition doesn't then copy
the .wad files into your doom2 folder and run them with the command line
'doom2 -file plutonia.wad' etc...
