DOOM3 Speakers Requirements

Will Doom 3 really requires us to have a 5.1 speaker system?
That's quite over the limits. Especially that a 5.1 sound card & speakers are quite expensive.

they aren't expensive here..

its definitely not a requirement. if it is, then someone will code a virtual 5.1 system driver, wich puts it out to the normal speakers..

it will be like in any other modern game with 5.1 support: if you have it, great. if not.. bad😀 but playable and listenable non-the-less.

Most recent games will run (slowely and without most features) on an old SB16 sound card and a TNT graphics card. I doubt 5.1 will ever be required, but might be recommeded.

5.1 speaker systems aren't even required for 5.1 sound, you can hook cheap speakers to 3 analog outputs. I'm seeing boards with onboard sound come with this option.

I get my 4.1 sound from two sets of analog speakers currently.
