I am currently using 2 psus to power my pc (1 for graphics card and 1 for motherboard) i want to know if it will use double the power because (if) they are both taking 12volts from the plug.

No, the consumption will be fairly similar. Might be slightly higher with the two PSUs, but hardly measurable.

My dad told me (who has built 1 pc himself) that it would use more, but i guess not.
(hes hardly ever right, n rather derpy.) xD

Expect around a 3-4% difference but you shouldn't use 2 separate power supplys on the same computer it can cause lots of problems and make failure of one of them much more likely
