I've read articles about how color laserjets and photocopiers will print a series of extremely tiny dots which can then be decoded to learn which printer printed the document, when, etc.

Is this true for all document printers including my black and white laserjet?

Thanks.

Are you with the Secret Service or NSA? (haha)

I'm curious because using a laserjet's serial number to locate its owner would work then. But, taking those laserprinted documents and running them through a photocopier for, say, five copy generations would likely lose them. Am I right? The photocopier's dots may be there but the laserjet's would not. A photocopier used in Chevalaine Territory (wherever that is).

Also, do all burned CD's and DVD's contain the serial number of the burner? I just thought of that one.

Thanks again.
