Hey, I'm just asking someone to double check my build before I drop over $1,000.

Wanting to upgrade my pc has snowballed into building a whole new PC. New CPU lead to a new motherboard, which lead to new memory and graphics card. Luckily I can keep my power supply and storage I guess!

A k series cpu but not a z series motherboard thus loosing the whole whole purpose of an overclockable cpu.
A mediocre psu for a rather expensive build.

I assume 1000$ is the max budget? Would you mind spending 50$ more to get a good psu and a motherboard that will allow you to use the feature you are paying more for on that cpu?

Do you need the extra 6 threads? Since you can’t overclock might think about in i5-8400.

Plus an 8700k, even stock, might get a bit toasty on a hyper 212 evo.

8700k should pair with Z3xx MB to overclock
No storage? Do you own ssd?

I think instead I'll save myself $100 and drop down to the i5-8400 Coffee Lake. Thanks!
