Double gpu notebooks driver updating

So i have a Lenovo y50-70 with an integrated gpu and a Nvidia gtx 860m. Now i've had trouble with updating the nvidia gpu in the past and i even had to take it to an expert to get it fixed. Now i was wondering is it "safe" to update to the latest driver through GeForce Exprience without messing up the whole nvidia optimus thing?

Hi,

Chances are if you'll just be updating it's driver the settings shouldn't change at all. But if you want to make sure that the latest driver would be installed here's what you can do.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall NVIDIA graphics.
- Open Program and Features then uninstall anything related to NVIDIA graphics.
- Download and install the latest driver there is.
- Here's the link: nvidia.com/download/index.aspx.
- Reboot the laptop once installed then after the restart make sure to set your games to run using NVIDIA processor.

The problem isn't the settings, when i updated the driver the Nvidia optimus was removed and i wonder if it's going to happen again?

I did update the driver manually backthen and that might have something to do with it.
