Hello,

My only goal is to put together a build that can handle 2x NVIDIA Quadro K5000, both 4GB 256bit.

Potential Mobo: ASRock Z77
RAM: Some forum threads say RAM is not relevant to GPUs but then Game-Debate's hardware comparison indicates that 1 K5000 should have 8GB of RAM. Should I get 16GB then? Or is that not how it works haha.
CPU: Game-Debate also recommends using i5 but since there are two, do I need an i7? Or two CPUS?
Cooling: Do you think just normal fan cooling would be fine to prevent this from melting down? It will be used to hook up 4 projectors (thats why 2 graphics cards) for edge blending software that requires NVIDIA Mosaic.

Honestly the only thing it will be running is picture slides and short videos, but I'm afraid of screwing it up somewhere and having parts not work. The computer itself will move around between tradeshows with ambient room temperatures of approx 80 degrees.

Thank you for reading I really appreciate it.

I really appreciate you taking a look. Thank you.

Did you pick the K5000 (an almost $2K card) because of the type connectors? Or do you already have the cards. Otherwise I would recommend a K4200 or maybe even drop to the K2200. The K4200 and K2200 have display ports rather than DVI. The only feature that NVIDIA shows the K5000 having is "GPUDirect for Video"

What resolution is each projector? Unless they are 4K projectors, the K5000 is way overkill.

I have not purchased them yet since I had that doubt too. I was thinking the K2200 made more sense but it doesn't have SLI support. I was recommended the K5000 since I was told I had to bridge them together if I was to connect 4 projectors to 1 computer. If I chose the K2200 it was my understanding that I needed 4 of them for ports.

The resolution for the projectors is 16:10.

If SLI is really necessary, then the K4200 is the lowest-end card that supports that. The K2200 and K4200 both support 4 simultaneous displays. Both have 2 display ports and a DVI port.

You probably should research the software some more and see if SLI is really required. It shouldn't be, but maybe the Mosaic software has a requirement for it.

Shoot I confirmed I need a K5000 but they don't know if I need 2 or just 1.

In that case if I want to build a PC with just 1 K5000 for now but with room to upgrade, how does this look?:

1 K5000
Mobo: Asus Maximus Hero VI
CPU: Intel i7 - 4790K 4.0 Ghz
RAM: 8GB
PSU: 850W?

I was trying to pick these parts on Pc-Specs but it indicated that the K5000 was not compatible with these features. Any thoughts? D: Or is this way over kill?
