I has a i5 8th gen of 6 cores in a gigabyte ultra durable 300 series motherboard. I only gets a speed of 2.80 ghz but before I had a i3 processor that gave me a 2.93 ghz of speed. When I google for the same i5 product in amazon I came to know that it gives a minimum of 3.00ghz or 3.20ghz. I would like to know the reason for my problem and also the solution for solving it

Solution
Well, there are several versions of the 8th generation i5 on the market. The 8400 (clocked at 2.8 GHz), 8500 (at 3.0 GHz), 8600 (at 3.1 GHz), and 8600K (at 3.6 GHz). Each has a different core clock speed (the GHz). It sounds like you have the 8400. Despite being the lowest model of i5 in the 8th generation, it is a very good CPU. There really isn't anything you can do about it short of buying a new CPU. That said, GHz isn't everything when it comes to CPU speed. That i5 is going to be leaps and bounds better than an older i3.
