Downgraded to Windows 8.1, no connection

I recently installed windows 8.1 on my PC. I tried accessing Internet Explorer but It said I had no connection. I go and run the troubleshooter but it didn’t help. I am connected via Ethernet since I have no WiFi card. My mobo is an H97 Anniversary by AsRock. Any help?

You are going to need to install the ethernet drivers either from CD or USB if you dont have an internet connection.

You can get the most recent driver version directly from Realtek.

Which company do you think provided ASRock with the device driver for the Realtek RTL8111GR LAN chip on that motherboard?

The device driver on ASRock's website was last updated back in 2014. The device driver on Realtek's website was last updated on March 2018.

And that's all it has. I will always, always direct people to the manufactures site because not only is that where all the drivers they need are. But also I don't want them ever to be trying to google the company names and product codes for each and every random part that is on their motherboard. That's just a recipe for them to end up on a site like https://www.drivers.com/
