I have an old computer that I had upgraded to 7 ultimate a while back. It is not my main comp, and due to incompatibility issues running old games, (which is what this will be used for), I want to switch back to xp. Too many issues even trying to run in comparability mode, frustrating. I know when I upgraded to 7 it kept all of my photos, etc saved in a separate partition/folder called OLD. Will this occur again, or will I lose everything. The other ? is I will be taking that HD out of an old dell with an intel CPU and putting into a different machine with an AMD CPU. I have the driver cd for that motherboard so am guessing just a matter of booting from DVD drive to download. I am sure I have done this in the past, but was a long time ago so want to do it right. Thanks

What are the games?
Ever heard of GOG?
They solve these incompatibility problems and often add widescreen support with legacy re-releases.
I have played many of their releases, because frankly, its even better than it was on windows 95, 98 or xp.

If you absolutely must go back to XP, then we can also talk about the pitfalls that go with that, I suppose.
But that is an entirely different kettle of fish.

Well I think that at this point the difficulties with older games, and the hard drive that has Windows 7 always having to run repair every time I turn it on makes me definitely want to go back to XP on this machine anyway. I could try and reinstall 7& and run repair, but will I still lose all photos and personal info doing that?
