Downgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 8

I reformatted my hard-drive today and my Windows 10 is no longer activated, so in order to fix this I need to roll back to windows 8 and perform the upgrade again. The issue is that in the format the Window.old file was deleted and the option has disappeared, I still have the original Windows 8 disk and Verification code. Can I revert to windows 8 using these.

Also losing files is no issue I backed up everything I wanted to an external hard drive before the format.
