Download iastor.sys where?

My Asus Ultrabook keeps freezing after a few minutes of operation. I've found in the logs hundreds of repeated references to something being wrong with iastor.sys. I've found out that iastor.sys is an Intel file dealing with RAIDs, which I don't have in my laptop. Still, it's causing so many errors, I figure a good place to start is by replacing what I assume is a corrupted file. But I can't find anywhere to download it, even at Intel. Any suggestions--either for a download site or what else might be causing the freezes.

Have you just changed anything to do with your hard drive(s)?

If not, try a System Restore. You might have to use your Asus recovery disk.

iastor.sys is part of the driver for the Intel Platform Controller Hub (PCH)'s built in storage controller. It's installed as part of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver suite which can be downloaded from Intel's website.

Microsoft Windows has a built-in variation on this driver for most chipsets which allows Windows to be installed on a drive connected to an Intel PCH storage controller without providing the drivers at installation time. The built-in driver is minimalist, so installing the Intel provided one is preferred.
