Download speed becomes slower after new windows installation.

To be quick, i just installed a fresh windows xp instead of my existing windows 7. all working fine and i managed to configure my wireless connection. it works fine, but the download speeds are just so slow, before (when i had windows 7) i was getting full speeds (1.6mb/s) after the installation of windows xp i can get more thatn 140-150 kb/s.
Note: that when i do a speedtest using speedtest.com it shows my speed correctly but the actual download speed is far from what it shows.

is there anything i forgot to do during setup or something?

The Windows XP doesn't set wireless cards parameters automatically. You can use this freeware tool to fix this. The program does everything for you when you start it.
