Well as title says, my download speed is dropping to 0 b/s for few seconds and then comes back to normal download speed. Does anyone knows any fix to this ?

I am using Win 10, local network ofc and I have wi fi router. IP adress is dynamic. Firewall is disabled and I am using free version of bitdefender as my AV so I do not know if AV is issue maybe.

Thank you all for help in advance.

Cheers.

It depends on the site you are downloading from to a point, many thing can cause that. Run speedtest and watch the graph under the speed you want a constant flat line if possible.

The most common thing is data loss and the end machine try to figure that out and get the transfer restarted but most times that happens very fast and you don't notice it.

You also have to be careful about looking too closely at some of these numbers. Data really isn't sent at a constant rate it is sent in bursts and the values you see are averages over time.

If you were to look extremely closely you will find things like your gigabit ethernet port only runs at 2 speeds really. It runs at 1gigabit or it runs at 0gigabits. So if you were to...

So if you were to copy a file to a nas or something and you see rates of 500mbps that is the same as it sending data at 1gigabit for 5 seconds and sitting idle for 5 seconds. Your 10second average rate is 500mbps.

I guess it depends on how fast the average speed you are getting. If the average speed is ok then it is just looking too closely at the data. Now I see this all the time on things like steam. It is something on their end because when I look at the data stream with wireshark there is nothing wrong with the communications. The server is actually responding to keep alive messages but does not want to send any data.
