Downloaded videos are not sharp

The resolution, color, and sharpness seems so much better on youtube videos than the videos I download.

I have tried downloading 1080p and 4k videos and the colors seem dull, blurry, and kind of pixelated.

When watching on youtube at 1080p, 1440p resolutions, it seems so much better.

I recently just bought a new monitor and realized that this happened on both my previous and new monitor.

I reinstalled Nvidia drivers and media players and nothing changed.

If anyone could help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Specs:
I5-6600
Samsung Evo SSD
1070ti
16gb Ram

Monitor 1: 27 inch 1080p@60hz
Monitor 2: 34 inch UW 1440p@100hz

Media player used to test: VLC, Gom Player

the big question here is where did you download the videos? if you are downloading them from different places then quality will vary from vid to vid
