downloading movies to comp

Hi everyone,

I have a digital camera JVC newly bought digital one. It works with both miniDV cassetes and with memory sticks. I was wondering if it is possible to transfer images from the miniDV cassetes to my laptop. The JVC homepage says I need special software and a firewire connection. My laptop has a firewire connection but I do not know what software to find. Anyone knows or can suggest me if it is possible to transfer this movies and what hardware or software I need. The camera supports firewire connection too.

Just get a firewire (aka IEEE1394 or i.Link) cable and connect it between your camcorder and laptop. Then install a video editing software (eg. Premiere), and you're ready to download your movies.

BTW, make sure your hard disk drive is big and fast enough for capturing the footage.
