Question DP Cable Does Not Connect Well with the Display

I connect PC to a monitor via DP cable. But it does not connect well in the sense that I need to unplug the cable and plug it back like one in five times. What can one do?

try a different cable?

Take the tape/plastic off of the connector. It could interfere with the connector lock.
