Question DP to HDMI: Best way to do it?

My monitor has HDMI and the motherboard has DP. Need a run of about 12'/4 meters. I can use a short DP to HDMI adapter then a 12' HDMI cable or a DP to HDMI 12' cable. Wondering if it makes a difference. Sometimes I go through a lot of equipment so having a adapters can be handy and HDMI to HDMI cables seem to be much cheaper than DP to HDMI cables, probably because they're used a lot more frequently. The DP to HDMI adapters are very cheap on Ebay/Amazon but I wonder about quality. And is it better to use the adapter in the beginning of the run or the end? Or does it not even matter?

There is no difference. However, using an adapter dongle + HDMI-to-HDMI cable is preferred since it gives you greater flexibility to re-use the adapter for other lengths in the future if needed.
