Computer with integrated Intel 530 HD card, has DP++ outputs. Trying to connect to Acer R240HY monitor with HDMI inputs.

Purchased a Cable Matters DisplayPort 1.2 to HDTV Cable Supporting 4K.

Monitor does not recognize any signal. Monitor is scanning across all inputs. Computer has all updates. I had hoped it would be simple plug and play. Any help for a simpleton?

Should be simple plug & play mate.
Is PC working fine via VGA output ??
Do you have another HDMI based screen you can try?? Standard led tv or similar?
I'll assume you tried both dp outputs ??
Cold starting from each .

Have a lenovo tinypc with same ports , I use a dp to HDMI myself , only singular issue ive ever had was I have to use VGA to get display in bios.

Eminently possible its a bad cable mate yes (although I'm not sure what can actually go wrong with a cable)

You don't have a different screen you can try ??

Try connecting both VGA & dp cables , boot into windows with the display on VGA.
Then press either windows key+P or opens settings system/display & click the detect button under multiple displays.

If neither of these options does anything then the monitor edid information is not being passed along the cable .

Followed Acer connection instructions. Tried connecting through Settings as suggested. Tried connecting to another HDMI device. Tried both DP++ ports. Tried through safe mode. All efforts failed. So it's either the DP++ ports or the cable or me.

I'll return the cable and try the adapter you suggested.

Thank you so very much for your input and suggestions madmatt30!
