Hi, i have a zotac RTX 3060 (3 dp, 1 hdmi) and i was wondering if I could use a passive adapter, or if I'd have to get an active one? I m using a setup with 2 monitors both samsung 1920x1080 60hz

As far as i know;
Active adapter - to convert analog signal to digital. E.g VGA/DVI-A to HDMI/DP.
Passive adapter - to convert signal to different port. E.g VGA to DVI-A or HDMI to DP.
but i need to convert from dp to hdmi, which one should i use ?

Well, it says on the tin: "Cavo Adattatore Dongle Passivo da DP a HDMI". I don't understand Italian myself, but i know what "passivo" means.

Also, active adapters are usually beefier, since they need to house the chipset for conversion. E.g this thing,
amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-Supporting-Technology/dp/B00EDT0072
sorry for italian link 🤣 so with a passive adapter, the gpu make the conversion or what ? i was with this cable before and the hdmi side go overheating in 1-2 min. changed it for this one passive adapter, i hope this solution is better....
old cable https://www.amazon.it/dp/B07VKS8JQ3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Using cheap/no-name cables can cause all sorts of issues. Though, i haven't seen any cable overheats myself, then again, i don't buy cheap/no-name cables.
can u suggest me a good dp to hdmi converter ? passive adapter if you think it is better.

The same one i linked above should do fine.

Same manufacturer's passive version is this,
amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-HDMI-Adapter/dp/B00K0UDYLM/

Active DP to HDMI adapter is better used when you use one input device and like to extend it over multiple output devices. But since you have 2 monitors and only need to change one port, passive adapter does fine.
thanks for all the information, tomorrow I will try the new adapter and let you know if and how it works.
Ps. the Startech adapter (the one i bought) turns out to be a good cable with a discreet brand, let's hope so 😆
