Hello. I have close to my one man business in Cancun, and I am in the middle of the peak of my busy season. As luck would have it, my PC broke so I had to purchase a new one. I was able to get an AMAZING computer for a great price, slightly used. It is actually much more machine than I seem to need, specially the graphics card.

It has a P8 H77-M Pro (Asus) mother board. With integrated graphics card with HDMI output.

I also have Quadro 600 Nvidia graphics card with what I now know as a DP and a DVI output.

My only available screen/monitor is my Panasonic HD TV, where I had my old computer connected via HDMI cable.

This is where hopefully this great community can point me in the right direction. Usually I would search forums etc, to learn more about my problem, and try different solutions. I enjoy learning, and researching is a great tool for that. However this time I wanted to cheat a bit since I dont have time to research on my own. I don't know what key words to use, what make sense what doesn't. I am hoping some of you could point me on the right direction to find the solution that am I am looking for, and if there is no solution you might be able to help me save lots of time by letting me know.

I do have computer experience, but I've never played with a graphics card before, only the integrated ones.

When I bought the computer, I glanced at the quadro 600 outputs, and I assumed the DP port was a HDMI port, so figured I was set. When I got home with the computer I realized it was not an HDMI port.

First thing I tried, was to plug my TV via HDMI to the onboard HDMI output of my pc. When I booted I couldn't get any output to the screen.

I did find someone to lend me a monitor, with a DVI connector (the very rectangle white one). The computer boots just fine. Also, when I purchased the computer he connected it to a monitor via a DP cable. So I do know both DP port and the DVI of the Quadro 600 are working fine (at least on a time).

Today I went and purchased a DP to HDMI convertor. From the quick reading that I did, seems I should be able to get video and audio out of the Graphics card, using a DP to HDMI convertor, as long as I connect the S/PIDF header to the graphics card (or something like that).

I did read up briefly, and seems spidf can be optical, or via other one pin connector, or it seems there is another connector that would connect card to pc mother board?

When I connect the DP to HDMI to my TV, I get no signal what so ever. I tried with only that plug in, boothing both into Ubuntu and Windows 8, so confident that is not an operating system problem.

Ideally I would like to use some type of DP to HDMI adaptor, what would transfer video and sound to the TV, and occasionally plug in a second monitor via the DVI port. Is this possible with the hardware I have?

If above not possible, second best option, same as above, as long as not two monitors connected at the same time, would that be possible?

If not possible to pass video and audio to my tv from a DP to HDMI adaptor, what can I do to at least pass video from DP to HDMI (at the moment nothing is recognized)

If the specs of my video card don't allow for DP to HDMI to work, or if I can't get the correct DP to HDMI type converter that would work (I am in cancun mex, that type of items hard to find), would it be possible to activate both the integrated and the other graphics card? That way I could connect my TV to the integrated HDMI port, and use that card, and additionally, if I wanted I could also connect another monitor via the DVI plug?

Seems worse case scenario I could just pull the card out, and just use the integrated board. That could be a solution, but I would let a nice card go to waste 🙁

Seems I could do changes in Bios, but not sure what to change, or what I am looking for. I am afraid if I change something in bios, I might not be able to go back and change it again (like if I try to force it to work with DP, but if that doesn't work, how would I boot up again into Bios, if the DVI port is disabled?).

Again any and all help would be appreciated.

Ok, so no answers or suggestions. My busy season has slowed down so I've had more time to play. I did purchase a DP to HDMI converter.

On the bios for the graphics. If I select AUTO or PCI option, I can't get anything on the Panasonic tv screen, using the DP to HDMI on the Quadro 600, or connecting to the integrated GPU HDMI. If I manually set up the iGPU as the default, then I am able to get both audio and video using the integrated HDMI port or using the integrated DP with the DP to HDMI convertor that I got.

As it stands, seems I am able to use the iGPU and be done with it, but I would be letting a decent GPU go to waste.

The DP to HDMI converter does work, since I can get it to work using the iGPU's DP to test, and I am able to get sound and video.

Is there anything I need to do or a configuration I have to change on the Quadro 600 for it to work with the DP adapter?
