Would like to ask about connecting monitors to Thunderbolt 3 port on a Z170 motherboard (like GA-Z170X-UD5 TH)
a. What cable or adaptor is equired to connect a DP 1.2 monitor to TB3 port?
b. Is daisy chain of DP1.2 monitors via the TB3 port possible? If yes, what cable, adaptor and settings are required?

You need a USB-C DisplayPort cable, or a USB-C to DisplayPort (female) adapter, followed by a DisplayPort cable.
Daisy chaining should work, depending on the monitor resolutions you use, whether your host supports MST, and whether the first monitor in the chain supports daisy chaining. A Thunderbolt 3 port (which takes the physical form of a USB-C connector), when connected to a DisplayPort sink, is electrically and logically a DisplayPort port.
