hello good people, I came across this issue of dpc watchdog violation in my laptop and its the first time I've witnessed it, it happened after I did a fresh windows 10 installation and used the dell website to install the drivers on my dell precision 7720, I even disabled windows 10 using the registry so that it doesn't conflict with the drivers installed on dell website, I do encounter such driver issues when I install via dell website, and when Windows update also happens forcefully, or should I just be letting drivers install via windows update as opposed to the dell website because eventually windows update will always take place forcefully, will appreciate your answers

A couple of things.

Where did you source the installer for the OS? Did you install said OS in offline mode(without connecting to the internet)?

While you're disconnected from the internet, after installing the OS, you're suggested to install all relevant drivers for your platform in an elevated command with the latest driver versions, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator. Once you've installed all drivers, connect to the internet and let the OS run an update.

I downloaded the OS from Microsoft website using that trick of element and choosing a new resolution, I installed the OS while offline , then I went to dell precision and installed the drivers using their automatic installer which scans pc and suggest drivers to be installed, then I went ahead and installed my architectural softwares like revit and AutoCAD and upon launching revit, the pc freezes and the dpc error pops up, if I do the way you've said by letting windows update run after installing the drivers in dell website, will the windows update thats going to run going to corrupt the already installed drivers from dell website, and should I install the drivers by downloading them one by one rather than using automatic installer in dell website, in my case I started with download intel hd 630 and Nvidia graphics card from their website and installed them, after which I went to dell website to install drivers, is it right that I downloaded the intel and Nvidia graphics drivers outside the dell website or I ought to have done everything in dell website, I saw the Nvidia quadro P3000 from dell website was not the latest one as compared to the one from Nvidia website, I'll appreciate your suggestions, thanks

I download and install all of my drivers manually and with that I avoid all third party apps that tell you that you have drivers or BIOS versions pending update. I cross reference the latest version that's available, against the one that I'm currently working with. I tend to store the drivers on a pen drive prior to formatting and reinstalling the OS.

Great, thanks for the reply, did a fresh windows installation and prior to this I downloaded the latest intel graphics driver from intel website and also the latest Nvidia graphics driver from intel website because I realized the versions in dell website were older versions and I suspected the old drivers were the ones responsible for the video tdr failure and this watchdog violation, so after OS installed, I disabled windows update permanently via the policy editor and the registry, then installed the intel driver first and then the Nvidia and restarted pc, then I installed the revit and AutoCAD software and tried testing the pc by doing some heavy settings rendering in revit that lasted about two hours and the pc never ran into the video tdr failure and so on, previously it couldn't do this for even 5 minutes before running into blue screen, my question now is , being that I've only installed the two graphics drivers and no other drivers since I'm afraid I'll only find old ones that makes pc run into blue screen, will my pc just run normally with only these two graphics drivers and not others, last time I installed OS and let windows run update to install drivers and when I installed revit and tried those renderings, it ran into blue screen quite often, for now the pc really works well with just the two graphics drivers but I know there are other drivers that it will have to need, I'm even afraid of installing or turning on framework 3.0 and 3.5 that needs to be downloaded and installed from windows update, what can I do over this dilemma, I'm trying by all means not to run into these blue screens by being choosy on what drivers I install
