DPI for Mice?

Hey everyone,

I currently have a Microsoft mouse which is said to be at 1000 DPI.

I recently purchased a gaming mouse where I can customize the DPI options, so I set it to the default 1000 since that's what I was used to with my other microsoft mouse. Immediately I noticed it feels so much slower than it should be compared to how fast my microsoft mouse cursor was moving. I'm wondering how this is possible as I don't fully understand. Does DPI vary from brand to brand?

And is there a recommended normal DPI for gaming mouses for casual use and another recommended DPI for actual gaming?

Appreciate any insight as I know nothing about this type of stuff.

I would check your Windows mouse settings (through control panel or start> type in mouse > pointer options tab ) might have reset themselves to default with the new mouse, you might had custom settings for your mouse in windows that were working in concert with your older 1000 DPI mouse resulting in your previous 1000 DPI experience> I use different Logitech mice myself and work on both settings windows/ Logitech Setpoint to get optimal settings.
