Hello there, I need help badly.
I bought an FX-8150 from a friend. He was still using it before he sold it to me.

My motherboard is an Asrock 970 Extreme4. Bios version 2.20.
I have an FX-8320 which is currently installed and using.

So I swap in the FX-8150 and it doesn't boot. Dr. Debug gave me a 00 code. I return the FX-8320 and it booted. What could be the problem?

Is the cpu fried or something?
Thanks in advance guys.

That's strange because the Extreme 4 doesn't offcially support the 8320 or 8350 , because it becomes unstable.

It does support the 8150.

I don't know man. My bro has been using the 8320 since we bought it 1 1/2 years ago.

I did. Using the Clear CMOS button at the back and the CMOS jumper. I'm clueless. I'm using the 8320 now.

I don't know if I did it right. How do you clear the CMOS using the jumper? I just turned off the pc and put the cap on 2 and 3. waited a few seconds then returned it to 1 2.

The 8150 looks clean. No bent pins or burn marks. I went to his house and I personally saw him remove it from his computer. He was still using it before he sold it to me.

How did you transport it from his machine to yours? Was it in the same place (machine to machine on the same table) or did it get put in a static bag and driven across town or something? What did you use to contain it?

Tried removing cmos battery. It still shows the 00 code. It really is strange. Any more suggestions? I have another build here where I could put the 8150. It has a Gigabyte 970A-DS3P. But I'm still copying files. I'll try it later and get back to you.

The plastic container it came in. From the metal tin. The one with the little black square foam.

They have a BIOS update but don't list the 8320 and 8350 as compatible in the CPU support list.

That's just strange.

Aaaaand it still won't boot. It doesn't even turn on using the Gigabyte mobo. I returned my 8320 and it booted fine.
I think the 8150 is dead. Anything I can do about it?
