Hello- I have played all games in the past without any blue screen or major crashes. I am using a GTX 980 with a i5-3570K OC'd at 4.5. I had the settings of DAI set to ultimate, but I recently got a blue screen. I then started monitoring and noticed my CPU maxing at 75 degrees. The i5's max temp is 70 degrees from what I read on Intel's site. Do I need to change the core settings to one core? I lowered some settings and I'm still seeing high CPU temps. Any suggestions?

I got the blue screen once and today the game just froze and crashed. I could be wrong but I'm targeting the CPU as the cause, because it has never seen temps like this from any other games. I've been monitoring after a play through (without a crash) and the temp maxed at 75. I'm worried about it going over 70 to be honest.

Possibly the combination with my OC and this game is overheating the CPU? I also read something about making sure the BIOS is up to date and I realized that I'm not on the current version. I'm thinking maybe it is time to replace the thermal compound. It was so nice when I didn't have to think about these things. I believe DA: Inquisition is exposing some weaknesses in my build, I am just not sure what they are.

I am going to run Prime95 and see what happens. Thanks for the replies. Any other ideas will be extremely appreciated.

I am not really sure why I need an overclock of 4.5 anyhow, unless someone can tell me a reason, other than because it works, and tinkering with it is fun. I believe I will get the same performance at 4.0 and less heat, so I will most likely do this soon.

I did play for 2 hours today with a max core temp of 72, which I am okay with. I took the limiters off my case fans, but now it sounds like a jet. I also maxed my GPU at 60 fps; it was reaching near 90 on the benchmark, but I have no need for it to push more than 60, so it is just working harder creating more heat in the case. Also, the I noticed the resolution was set right, but my TV is 60hz, and it was set at a number higher than that, I adjusted it to 1920x1080 60hz refresh. I think these adjustments have helped for now. thanks.
