DRAM and CPU leds alternating on Gigabyte AORUS ULTRA GAMING x470

Hello guys, I am in dire need of help before I go crazy.

I have built a new rig and the BIOS doesn't post. The DRAM and CPU LEDs alternate and I have tried all the possible solutions I have found online with no avail. I have RMA'd everything but the e-shop said everything is fine yet it is not. If things won't improve I'll probably ask for a mobo replacement cause it must be it.

Specs:

Mobo: AORUS ULTRA GAMING x470
RAM: F4-3000C16D-16GTZR
CPU: Ryzen 2600x
PSU: Corsair (TX650M)
GPU: GTX 660TI (while getting money for a new one)
SSD: Samsung 970 EVO

Thank you beforehand for all the replies and help.

Solution

The RAM F4-3000C16D-16GTZR is listed but it appears as an 8GB stick, instead of a 16GB kit. It appears Gigabyte made a mistake since on G.SKILL website that ram is listed only for Intel motherboards.
Also on the G.SKIL RAM Configurator the F4-3000C16D-16GTZR does not appear as been compatible with any AMD AM4 platform.

If you power on without any RAM installed, does the RAM and CPU LEDs behave the...
You should have posted what you have tried already.

Did you install standoffs before placing the motherboard in the case?
Make sure the 24-pin and 8-pin ATX power connectors are seated properly.
Have you check CPU for bent pins?
Reset CMOS and try with one stick of RAM on slot 1 (slot near 24-pin power connector)?
Dual channel RAM should be placed on slot 1 and 2 (slot 2 is the 2nd slot from CPU)

My bad, I did tried all of that but shoudl have mentioned it.

But yea I tried to:

  • Reset CMOS
Breadboard it with just a single ram
All standoffs were already placed in the case by the manufacturer
All ATX connectors were plugged and seated properly
Ram were seated in dual channel in slot 1 and 2 according to the manual.

I even installed a new cooler and reseated the CPU in the process but nothing. I believe the mobo is busted despite what the RMA guy said cause it worked only once after they shipped it back to me, sigh.

I checked the documentation on Gigabyte's site (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-ULTRA-GAMING-rev-10#support-doc for pinnacle CPUs) and also asked the Support and it is listed as one. I bought it after consulting such list, lol.

Don't need to be rude or passive aggressive you know. The 2600x is a Pinnacle Ridge CPU and that Gskill memory is listed as supported.

I would try another RAM or contact G.SKILL

Solution

I will contact GSKILL and will let you know. I am just very annoyed to see that GIGABYTE lists it as compatible (I literally copy-pasted the product code before buying it) while GSKILL does not. It's infuriating.

Thanks for the answer. Let's hope for the best.

I contacted G.Skill and they gave me a list of compatible DRAMs, saying that indeed the list on Gigabyte's site is wrong and they made a mistake. I have returned the RAM and bought the correct one, hopefully, the nightmare is over.

Thanks for the help man. I still can't believe Gigabyte made such mistake, sigh.

Lets hope is smooth sailing now.
Sorry that you had to go thru all this just because Gigabyte's lack of care.
They should have double checked that list and make sure there were not mistakes.
You should post it on their social media page.

I got the 100% compatible ram and it didn't solve the issue. I am gonna RMA the mobo despite what the shop said and ask for a refund then buy an ASROCK/ASUS mobo, I am done with Gigabyte, sigh.

Did you reset CMOS before using the new RAM?
Sometimes, the motherboard is locked and it needs to be reset.
