[SOLVED] DRAM issues

THis is further to the problems I had after I replaced the PSU. The DRAM led was on and was not booting system.
I figured out that it was one of the drams that was causing the problem. So I used just one dram and system booted up. I suspected it was the DRAM stick.
However, having done further tests, it appears that the memory DRAMS are both ok, it is one of the sockets,
I am using sockets A2 and B2. Socket A2 seems to be faulty; when i put a dram in there I get the red light; if I take it out and only leave B2 then system boots up. Dram in only A2 also gives red light.

you should tell your system specs in details.

Intel i7-2600 cpu, Asus P8Z68-V mobo. Corsair DDR3 Vegeance 2x8Gb. Antec PSU VP600P+.
System was previously overclocked but I guess that will be lost by now.

then A1 and B1 is the only option to go..

When mobo getting older it became funnier. So upgrade to 12th gen.

Reseat the cpu cooler, make sure it's snug on all sides. See if this wil help.

Check cpu socket for bent pins.

To install more ram.

How do the Dram sockets work?

You install ram modules in them. They provide physical connection between ram modules and memory controller built into cpu.

Why are there 4 sockets but we only use the 2 blue ones?

I don't know. You can use all 4 ram slots.
