Hi
My Pc (990fx, corsair dominator Ram 2x4, 8120fx, gtx 680) was getting quite dusty so I decided to clean it, take note that it was working fine before cleaning. I had run out of compressed air, so I only cleaned the fans and parts of the case, but I did take out my Corsair Airflow Pro unit, and after doing all that and putting it back together, I turned it on and my windows 8 said "Your Pc has run into a problem and will restart" this was on a loop. At one point it stopped doing that and didn't put any picture on the screen at all. Everything was on (all fans moving, Airflow unit working), but there was no video on screen and the Dram led was on constantly (not flashing). So after removing the Airflow unit and looking at the RAM, I turned it on again, the Dram led was still on, so I did some research and some people just said press the Memok button, so I did that and it then flashed from then on, but then it would stop and the Cpu led would flash once and then the Dram led would start flashing again, then my pc started to beep. It still doesnt show a video. I looked up this problem and some people say its a faulty mobo (even though it was working before cleaning). I looked around on various sites, and decided to post this as many people were getting different answers and this could be a specific problem to my pc.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

I reset the bios and took both the RAM sticks out and tried each of them by themselves, but I was rewarded with 1 long beep and 2 short ones. After turning my PC on and off lots of times, it eventually came on once, and on task manager it said I only had 4gb RAM that i could use and 4gb "reserved for hardware", I really dont know whats this means, and in the bios It said I only had 4gb of RAM, I am really stuck and don't know what to do. Maybe one of my sticks of RAM is broken, but when I tried to turn it on earlier, a black screen came up with some writing on it saying Overclocking Failed, but I've never overclocked anything on my system. Any more help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Okay, I asked about the Asus angle because of many threads relating to having to flash the BIOS to the latest and greatest to get everything happy on the board. Be aware though that flashing the BIOS should not be taken lightly (there is the possibility of bricking the motherboard if done incorrectly or interrupted) and should only be attempted once you understand and can follow the directions. There is nothing to be fearful of there, many BIOS's are flashed each and every day successfully, it's just important to know how to do it.

edit: just to clarify first, you have checked that all ram modules are fully seated especially on the non-locking side (I've had issues with that on Asus boards in the past)

I think I have made a breakthrough, I think one of my RAM sticks is broken, because when I only put that one in my system doesn't even start, it just beeps, but when I just put the other one in, it tries to do an automatic repair on my pc, but then says that it cant do an automatic repair. I don't mind only using 1 stick of RAM, but I just want to be able to use my computer, is there a preferable slot I should put it in, or do I need to change something in the bios to allow me to only put 1 stick in. I think the RAM is seated properly, because its level (although I don't have to push immensely hard to get it in at all, its actually quite easy)

There is a preferred slot for a single stick of ram, it is slot DIMM_A2 which is the light brown closest to the CPU - or second slot from CPU.

You should not need to change any settings although the computer may notify you of ram size change if applicable (that's normal)

For the ram seating, just ensure that you firmly push down on the non-locking side after the locking side is locked in place (just to confirm good seating)

I have taken out the faulty stick of RAM, but now I'm getting another problem. I have an automatic repair loop on my pc. It will turn on, and when the windows 8 loading screen comes on, it says automatic repair, then it says automatic repair failed to repair your pc.- Log file D:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt (I am no longer getting the memok button flashing upon the removal of the faulty RAM) I looked this up,and now I'm not sure whether its a hardware or software problem.

I think at this point, you may want to look into reinstalling your operating system. Before attempting that, try disconnecting the HDD's SATA cable from the motherboard and starting up... see if you don't at least get to the "no boot device found" warning
