Hi everyone,
Recently I've bought a new SSD, the Crucial P5 Plus 1TB, that supports NVMe Gen4.
My rig was built by myself in November 2020, and since then I had never swapped or added any new parts.
The problem happened today, after installing the new SSD. To be clear, I only installed the SSD in an available slot, I didn't swap the components yet.
When installing the new component and migrating the OS to this SSD (as I wanted to format the previous SSD that had the OS and install it in this one), once it restarted, the CPU Led Light on my MSI MAG B550M Bazooka motherboard lit up, alongside no POST. No matter what I checked, or cleaned, or removed and placed again, the problem persisted. After many troubleshooting, all it needed was a BIOS update, as it still hadn't been updated since buying the motherboard. Now everything works fine, and the OS is running on the desired SSD.
My problem begins now: after checking that everything worked, I wanted to swap the SSDs as to take advantage of the newer SSD, which could use the LIGHTNING SLOT that had Gen4 in my motherboard. After swapping them, and turning on the computer, the DRAM light turned on, alongside no POST again, and it wasn't turning off.
I don't know if there is a problem between my SSD and the motherboard in terms of compatibility, but it seems strange that there's only an error when installing the SSD in the Gen4 slot. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Apologies if anything is not explained properly, if any additional info is needed I will happily provide it.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600
Motherboard: MSI MAG B550M BAZOOKA
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3600MHz 2x8GB
GPU: AMD Radeon PowerColor 5700XT
Old SSD: WD Green M.2 280 SSD
New SSD: Crucial P5 Plus SSD 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2
Thanks.
